“…Digitalization improves the quality of demand information, enabling firms to better pinpoint the product or service variant demanded as well as the location and the timing of the demand, thus dramatically reducing demand uncertainty (Rossman et al , 2018). As a result, firms have a lesser need for postponement because postponement is an uncertainty reduction management tool (Zinn, 2019). For example, when products are made to order, there is no uncertainty as to the customer requirement, so there is no need to postpone the product’s final form.…”

“…The researchers applied their proposed framework to twenty-eight cases from the literature to verify and demonstrate its applicability. Recent works [4][5][6][7] also examined the effect of various postponement strategies on the operations planning and management of multi-item manufacturing systems. This study considers the reworking of inevitable defective stocks produced in the proposed multi-item manufacturing system.…”

“…10. Transparency and postponement: Similar to the transparency strategy, the postponement strategy also involves improving decision-making (Van Hoek, 2001; by reducing the risk of carrying out activities based on speculation (Pagh & Cooper, 1998;Van Hoek, 2000Zinn, 2019), particularly activities related to differentiation . As such, the different types of postponement are about reducing the S─D segment and/or delaying the CADP in the supply chain.…”
