A Hybrid GRASP Algorithm for an Integrated Production Planning and a Group Layout Design in a Dynamic Cellular Manufacturing System

Abstract: Demand fluctuations influence the configuration of manufacturing workshops. Integration of optimal production planning via the replenishment organization, can significantly reduce the excessive ++reconfigurations number in each period and, thereafter, the global managing costs. In this paper, we discuss the joint machines Group layout design (GLD) and lot-sizing problem (LSP) in a dynamic cellular manufacturing system (DCMS). We propose a novel multi-period model to determine the best cell formation, necessary… Show more

“…On the other hand, task scheduling is a process that exerts a considerable influence on the performance of manufacturing activities, lowering costs, and reducing ergonomic risks [9]. In the task scheduling process, the proper distribution of human resources among activities is crucial to the production schedule [10].…”

“…In [11,12], Santiago et al and Saad et al tackle the precedence-constraint tasks scheduling using a GRASP hybridized with a cellular processing algorithm and a simulated annealing, respectively. Khamlichi et al used another hybrid GRASP to solve the manufacturing planning [13] for demand fluctuations. Hence, we believe that GRASP is simple and has high hybridizable properties, making room for improvements.…”
