A literature review of maintenance performance measurement

Abstract: PurposeThis research aims to examine the relevant literature related to maintenance performance measurement in the manufacturing sector. In the process, innovative approaches and models utilized to measure and manage maintenance performance in manufacturing operational settings are classified and examined. Based on this investigation, future research directions and themes are identified.Design/methodology/approachA database of 251 peer‐reviewed publications, published during the last 30 years, was utilized for… Show more

“…Traditionally, maintenance, with its multifaceted activities, resources, measurement, and management, has been important to manufacturing organizations. However, in recent years, the need to manage different aspects of maintenance more effectively has increased the importance of the role of maintenance in organizations (Simões, Gomes, & Yasin, 2011). In any industrial practice, the basic effort is to reduce costs and increase profit (Pacaiova, Glatz, & Kacvinsky, 2012).…”

“…In order to establish the relationship between frequency of routine maintenance and maintenance performance, an extensive search and analytical review of the literature related to the topics were performed. This method was adopted from the researches done by Simoes, Gomes and Yasin [41] and Roda, Macchi, Fumagalli and Viveros [42]. The literature search and review covered publications of journal articles, conference proceedings, and books.…”

“…Para uma gestão eficaz da manutenção, é necessário enfoque sistêmico, que considere as diversas interfaces envolvidas, tais como os sistemas de recursos humanos, de produção, de materiais sobressalentes, e de execução da manutenção, o que deve incluir ao menos um histórico técnico e de custos de intervenção (SIMÕES et al, 2011). Para definir a estratégia de manutenção, uma importante base de apoio são métodos quantitativos já propostos na literatura.…”
