A search for monoenergetic positron emission following the decay of the isomer 1 5 2 m E~ (tl,* = 9.32 h) has been performed using a double-focusing iron-core electron spectrometer. No line was observed at the appropriate point in the spectrum and a consequent branching ratio for this process was determined to be < 3.4 x lo-' positrons per gamma transition. From this result it was deduced that the lifetime of the 15 1 1 keV level in IS2Sm is greater than 3.5 x s.
