A Low-profile planar monopole internal antenna for GSM/DCS/PCS/IMT/UMTS/WLAN/ISM/LTE operation in the Mobile phones

Abstract: In this paper, a novel low-profile planar monopole internal antenna for GSM/DCS/PCS/ IMT/UMTS/WLAN/ISM/LTE operation in the mobile phones is designed and developed. The proposed antenna is composed of multi-branches, F-shaped slots in the system ground plane and tapered feeding line which can improve the impedance matching at the feeding point. The antenna occupying a small area of 18.5 × 46 mm2 is placed on the top no-ground portion of the system circuit board, which makes it suitable for practical mobile app… Show more

“…For example, in [2], a compact antenna comprised of a U-shaped loop, a T-shaped slot and a feeding line is presented for handset applications. However, the designed antenna possesses a large volumetric size of 64.5 × 135 × 0.6 mm 3 . For mobile phone applications, in [3], a low-profile internal antenna with a volumetric size of 46 × 88.5 × 0.8 mm 3 is reported.…”

“…Finally, Table shows that the antennas in References and this article do not use any lumped element, which has certain advantages for practical processing and application. Compared to the existing defected ground structure mobile phone antennas in References , this design uses a small defected ground structure (width 0.5 mm) relative to the substrate, to avoid the influence of the slot on the ground plane as much as possible. The detailed structure and specific dimensions of the antenna are provided in section 2 of this article.…”
