The study investigated 134 first generation Chinese immigrants about their acculturation process in various domains to determine whether age, age entering United States, language use, and length of residence in United States influence their acculturation experiences. The intercorrelations among the various aspects of acculturation process (e.g. language use, knowledge, behavior and affect pertaining to both US and Chinese domains) were explored to understand the multifaceted nature of acculturation. Results found that English use and residence length are two significant predictors to Chinese Americans' acculturation levels most domains. A significant positive relationship was also found for many of the interrelationships among various domains of acculturation, indicating multifaceted and bidirectional possibility. Thus, counselors working with first generation immigrants need to explore acculturation experiences across various aspects to gain more accurate understanding of their acculturation status.
