A miRNA-HERC4 pathway promotes breast tumorigenesis by inactivating tumor suppressor LATS1

Abstract: s The E3 ligase HERC4 is overexpressed in human breast cancer and its expression levels correlated with the prognosis of breast cancer patients. However, the roles of HERC4 in mammary tumorigenesis remain unclear. Here we demonstrate that the knockdown of HERC4 in human breast cancer cells dramatically suppressed their proliferation, survival, migration, and tumor growth in vivo , while the overexpression of HERC4 promoted their aggressive tumorigenic activities. HERC4 is a ne… Show more

“…Many pathological conditions are caused by the imbalance of miRNAs [ 4 6 ], including neurodegenerative diseases, inflammatory diseases, metabolic diseases [ 7 ], cardiovascular diseases, and cancer [ 8 , 9 ]. Changes in microRNA expression are closely related to the occurrence, invasion, metastasis, and drug resistance of cancer cells [ 10 , 11 ].…”

“…High expression of HERC4 is associated with poor prognosis in patients with IBC 47 . The silence of EPHX2 could induce apoptosis in prostate cancer cells by reducing androgen receptor signalling 48 . C6orf141 could be silenced by ZNF217 overexpression, thereby promoting BC cell metastasis to bones 49,50 .…”

“…It is a common to study the biological processes including physiological processes, disease pathogenesis and progression, and pharmacological research of pharmacological treatment and drug resistance by focusing on the key genetic events (copy number variations (Pan et al, 2020 ), mutations (Zheng et al, 2019 , etc. ), genes (Zhou 2020 ), RNAs (miRNAs Xu et al ( 2019 ), lncRNAs (Lin et al, 2019 , etc. ), proteins Shao et al ( 2016 ), signaling pathways (Liao et al, 2018 ), or key cells (Mittal et al, 2019 ), etc.…”
