A multi-rate codec family based on GSM EFR and ITU-t g.729

Drawing upon the theoretical framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics, this paper compares the word order patterns of English and French adverbial connectors of contrast in a comparable bilingual corpus of quality newspaper editorials. The study shows that the two languages offer the same possibilities in terms of connector positioning but differ markedly in the preferred patterns that they display. In both languages, connector placement proves to be influenced by three main types of factors: language-specific syntactic, rhetorical and lexical factors. The notion of Rheme, which tends to be under-researched in the literature in comparison to that of Theme, plays a key role in the analysis.

Procesamiento de Informacion Multilingüe en un Sistema de Diálogo

En este artículo se presenta el resultado de nuestro trabajo actual en el campo de los sistemas de diálogo relacionado con el procesamiento multilingüe, cuyo objetivo es permitir que los usuarios de un sistema de diálogo puedan interactuar con el mismo utilizando diversos idiomas, como por ejemplo castellano, inglés, francés, etc. El artículo se inicia con una introducción a la tecnología de los sistemas de diálogo que incluye una visión panorámica de su evolución histórica, así como una descripción de la arquitectura básica de un sistema de diálogo convencional. A continuación se presenta un sistema de diálogo en el que hemos incorporado la capacidad de procesamiento multilingüe, comentándose la finalidad y funcionamiento de sus componentes principales. Posteriormente se describe la aproximación que hemos seguido para incorporar este tipo de procesamiento, tratando diversos aspectos relacionados con reconocimiento del habla, comprensión del lenguaje, control del diálogo, generación de frases y síntesis de voz.
