A Near-Infrared-Triggered Dynamic Wrinkling Biointerface for Noninvasive Harvesting of Practical Cell Sheets

Abstract: Cell sheet engineering represents a new era of precise and efficient regenerative medicine, but its efficacy is limited by the elaborative preparation and the weak mechanics. Herein, a near-infrared (NIR)-triggered dynamic wrinkling biointerface was designed for rapid acquisition of practical cell sheets. The biocompatible NIR can initiate the photothermal-mechanical linkage cascade to efficiently dissolve the collagen supporting layer and release the high-quality cell sheets. The interfacial shear force gener… Show more

“…21,25 Herein, we have first developed a sandwichtype micropatterned substrate to create OCSs based on a photothermal-mechanical manipulation method. 26 The sandwich-type substrate consists of a micropatterned thermal phase-transferring collagen layer, dynamic wrinkle layer, and photothermal conversion layer. On the micropatterned substrate, aligned cell sheets with different degrees of orientation were incubated.…”

“…DPSC sheets have also been reported to be composed of multilayer cells forming after 4 wk of culture in basal medium[ 117 ]. In addition to the above cell sheet preparation techniques, more recently, scholars have also used techniques such as near infrared triggering, light induction, and the combination of rough surfaces with thermoresponsive polymers to accelerate or improve the formation of cell sheets[ 118 - 120 ]. These techniques need to be further applied to the preparation of DPSC sheets.…”

“…15,16 To recreate the distinctive performance of the natural self-wrinkling regime, various elaborate artificial self-wrinkling systems have been successfully fabricated by modulating the stress distribution of hard skin on soft matrices. [17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24] Among others, self-wrinkling hydrogels featuring tissue-like mechanical properties and good biocompatibility have attracted tremendous attention owing to their promising applications in tissue scaffolds, 1,25 bionic mucosal tissue, 26 sensor devices, [27][28][29][30][31] soft robotics, 26 etc.…”
