A New Extended Padé Approximation and Its Application

Abstract: We extend ordinary Padé approximation, which is based on a set of standard polynomials as {1, ,. .. , }, to a new extended Padé approximation (Müntz Padé approximation), based on the general basic function set {1, , 2 ,. .. , } (0 < ≤ 1) (the particular case of Müntz polynomials) using general Taylor series (based on fractional calculus) with error convergency. The importance of this extension is that the ordinary Padé approximation is a particular case of our extended Padé approximation. Also the parameteriza… Show more

“…As the stability of the reduced‐order model is influenced by the numerator of the original system, the mixed approach has been preferred for model order reduction. Padé approximation is a traditional method of rational fraction approximation and uses the coefficients of Taylor series expansion of a function f(x) . Padé approximation will fetch the solution even if the Taylor series does not converge.…”

“…Padé approximation will fetch the solution even if the Taylor series does not converge. This method is computationally simple and may lead to superior performance when the function contains the poles . Because of these reasons, Padé approximation (PA) technique has been widely used for model order reduction .…”

“…The impulse response in (9) requires time-domain reflection coefficients (RC). In order to obtain the simplest and accurate expressions for (RC), we use the Padé approximation [17]. The idea of this approximation is to expand Γ v (s, θ) and Γ h (s, θ) as a ratio of two power series and determining both the numerator and denominator coefficients using the coefficients of their Taylor series expansion in complex s-domain.…”
