A new hardware embedded current control PWM based on current deviation vector

Abstract: This paper presents a new hardware embedded current control PWM named "iPWM", which was developed based on current hysteresis PWM. iPWM generates PWM signals to the inverter using current deviation vector derived from current feedback and current reference. It is expected that the iPWM can improve performance of inverter. This paper explains the outline of iPWM and experimental results of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive.

“…In order to suppress the voltage due to magnetic flux and avoid overcurrent, we use a current-control PWM [10] without carrier comparison to determine the gate command directly from the current value and the current reference. In order to allow measurement even at low speeds, a switching method with a large current derivative term is used.…”

“…(a) Current suppression control during restart As the current controller, use a current-control PWM [10] that can respond rapidly to the current in order to suppress overcurrents during restart. (b) Measurement of the rotation angle and rotation speed in the usable range at both low and high speeds Increase the harmonic current by selecting only nonzero voltage vectors with the current controller, and use an expanded induced voltage model in the rotation angle estimator to perform rotation angle estimation from both the no-load induced voltage and the inductance [4].…”
