“…Phyllodytes luteolus is commonly found in northern Espirito Santo and southern Bahia coastlands (Brazil), where they use bromeliads in open habitats, such as sand bars (Bokermann, 1966). Tadpoles develop in phytotelmata in leaf axils (Caramaschi et al, 1992). In the Reserva Florestal da Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (Espirito Santo state, Brazil), P luteolus females frequently lay only one egg per leaf axil, which may be a response to the small water volume stored in the axils of Vriesia neoglutinosa, The genus Phyllodytes includes small hylid frogs that use bromeliads as calling and oviposition sites.…”
