A New Species of the Genus Tamdaotettix (Orthoptera: Rhaphidophoridae) From Yunnan With a Key to Chinese Species

Abstract: A new species Tamdaotettix (Laotettix) truncatus Qin, Wang et Li, sp. n. is described from China (Yunnan). New species is most similar to T. (L.) curvatus Gorochov et Storozhenko, 2015 but differs from the latter in the shape of male 6th and 7th abdominal tergites and the shape of female subgenital plate. A key to the Chinese species of the genus is provided.

“…Moreover, its interspecific relationship is consistent with that inferred by Zhu et al (2022). The genus Tamdaotettix differs from Diestramima in that it has six membranous lobes of male genitalia, shining thoracic tergites and rather shorter posteromedian process on seventh abdominal tergite of male (Gorochov, 1998; Gorochov & Storozhenko, 2015, 2019; Qin et al, 2019; Qin, Liu, & Li, 2016; Zhu, Bian, & Shi, 2018). It consists of two subclades representing two subgenera Tamdaotettix and Laotettix , which can be distinguished by whether the sixth abdominal tergite of male has a projection.…”

“…trilobatus ). Specimens were identified using original descriptions (Dawwrueng et al, 2016; Gorochov, 1998; Gorochov & Storozhenko, 2015, 2019; Qin et al, 2019; Qin, Liu, & Li, 2016; Qin, Wang, et al, 2016; Storozhenko & Dawwrueng, 2014; Wang et al, 2019; Zhu et al, 2022; Zhu, Bian, & Shi, 2018; Zhu & Shi, 2018; Zhu, Wu, & Shi, 2018; Zong et al, 2021). Morphological images were acquired using a Leica DFC450 digital imaging system and specimen measurements followed Zhu and Shi (2018).…”
