A new Zigbee-based device for measuring visual reaction time in sport activities

Abstract: There is a growing demand for smart tools and devices that measure visual reaction time during sports and physical activities in outdoor environments. However, one of the major problems is the need to maintain an on-time 1 pulse per second (pps) reference with a known uncertainty. The introduction of ultra-low-power wireless chipsets such as Zigbee technology open new horizons for many new use cases. This paper investigates in-depth the calibration and the reliability of a new wireless Zigbee-based device for … Show more

“…Additionally, B-percept signals have a large coverage (up to 100 m) and it measures time accurately up to 0.001 second. 31 It could be used for training in vivo indoor and outdoor, which is not yet possible with virtual reality solution. 16 Accordingly, the B-percept system aims to simulate the real shotgun sports technique in vivo by giving detailed and immediate feedback about reaction time results and shooting accuracy which could positively enhance performance expectancy and self-efficacy.…”

“…This case study seeks to examine the changing nature of attention-deficit testing using a new wireless electronic tool called B-percept® protocol [5]. The testing protocol consists to measure the participant's perception of simple or complex visual (light), auditory (sound) and kinesthetic (vibration) stimuli, as triggered simultaneously or randomly.…”
