A Newly Identified LncRNA LncIMF4 Controls Adipogenesis of Porcine Intramuscular Preadipocyte through Attenuating Autophagy to Inhibit Lipolysis

Abstract: Intramuscular fat (IMF) is implicated in juiciness, tenderness, and flavor of pork. Meat quality of Chinese fat-type pig is much better than that of lean-type pig because of its higher IMF content. LncRNA is a vital regulator that contributes to adipogenesis. However, it is unknown about the regulation of lncRNA on IMF content. Here, by RNA sequence analysis of intramuscular adipocyte from Bamei pig (fat-type) and Yorkshire pig (lean-type), we found that a novel lncRNA, lncIMF4, was associated with adipogenesi… Show more

“…The deposition of IMF is achieved through the proliferation and differentiation of intramuscular preadipocytes [ 4 ]. The proliferation of preadipocytes is regulated by differential expression of cell cycle regulators, including cyclin-dependent kinases ( CDKs ), CDK inhibitors ( CKIs ), and other transcription factors [ 5 ]. Similarly, the preadipocyte differentiation process also involves many regulatory factors, including the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ ), CCAAT/enhancer binding protein ( C/EBP ) family, fatty acid binding protein 4 ( FABP4 ), and lipoprotein lipase ( LPL ) [ 6 ].…”

“…In addition, studies have shown that lncRNAs participate in a wide range of biological processes; however, studies on the relationship between lncRNAs and fat deposition are limited. Sun et al found that lncRNA LncIMF4 affects porcine intramuscular preadipocyte differentiation [ 35 ]. Zhang et al showed that lncRNA RP11-142A22.4 regulates preadipocyte differentiation and acts as a sponge of miR-587 to modulate Wnt5β expression [ 36 ].…”

“…In turn, Yu et al [13] comparing Duroc and Chinese Luchuan pig backfat pinpointed that differentially expressed lncRNAs are encoded in 13 adipose-related quantitative trait loci. In turn, a recent study by Sun et al [14] showed that porcine lncRNA -LncIMF4 controls adipogenesis in the intramuscular preadipocytes by relieving autophagy to inhibit lipolysis.…”
