With the rise of the internet, there has been an increasing focus on user anonymity. Anonymous communication networks (ACNs) aim to protect the identity privacy of users in the network. As a typical ACN, Tor achieves user anonymity by relaying user data through a series of relay nodes. However, this results in higher latency due to the transmission of network traffic between multiple nodes. This paper proposes a port-based anonymous communication network (PBACN) to address this issue. First, we propose a path construction algorithm. This algorithm describes constructing paths by partitioning the communication path information, which can reduce the probability of being discovered by adversaries. Secondly, we design a port-based source routing addressing method. During data transmission from the source to the destination, each node can directly forward the data by resolving the address into the port of each node. This method eliminates the need for table lookups, reducing the complexity of routing. Lastly, we propose an entropy-based metric to measure the anonymity of different ACNs. In terms of experimental evaluation, we quantitatively analyze the anonymity and end-to-end delay of various ACNs. The experimental results show that our proposed method reduces end-to-end delay by approximately 25% compared to Tor. When the adversary fraction is 20%, PBACN can improve the anonymity degree by approximately 4%.

The trend toward cloudification of communication networks and services, with user data and applications stored and processed in data centers, pushes the limits of current Data Center Networks (DCNs), requiring improved scalability, resiliency, and performance. Here we consider a DCN forwarding approach based on software-defined addressing (SDA), which embeds semantics in the Medium Access Control (MAC) address and thereby enables new forwarding processes. This work presents Flow-Zone Switching (FZS), a loop-free location-based source-routing solution that eliminates the need for forwarding tables by embedding routing instructions and flow identifiers directly in the flow-zone software-defined address. FZS speeds the forwarding process, increasing the throughput and reducing the latency of QoSsensitive flows while reducing the capital and operational costs of switching. cRetor: An SDN-Based Routing Scheme for Data Centers With Regular Topologies

The blooming of cloud computing leads to the rapid expansion of data center networks (DCN). Conventional link state routing algorithms like OSPF are widely adopted in data center networks, however, those routing algorithms bring great control overheads and long convergence time. Recently, topology-aware routing methods are considered to be efficient especially in data center networks with regular topologies. Lots of topology-aware routing methods (e.g., Fat-Tree and BCube) have been proposed for specific data center network topologies. This paper first proposes a formalized method to describe regular topologies and a regular Topology Description Language (TPDL) based on this method. TPDL is well designed to accurately define regular network topologies in a clear way leveraging their regularities. Based on the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technology, this paper also proposes a novel topology-aware routing scheme: cRetor (controllerside REgular TOpology Routing scheme). Different from other topology-aware routing methods, cRetor is a TPDL-based general routing method, which means it is expected to work on different kinds of regular topologies. In this scheme, TDPL files are used as a priori knowledge to build an initial topology in the SDN controllers, which eliminates the process of topology discovery via Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) and hence relieves the bandwidth and processing burdens on controllers. Besides, we also apply the A-star algorithm to SDN controllers to speed up the routing selection, where TPDL's distance formulas act as the heuristic function. The experimental results show that cRetor outperforms LLDP-based SDN, OSPF and DCell in routing calculation performance, convergence speed, routing overheads and fault tolerance.
