A Novel Biased Energy Distribution (BED) Technique for Cluster-Based Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: This paper presents the impact of utilizing a biased energy distribution (BED) scheme for clustering sensor networks. In clustering sensor networks, some of the nodes are elected as aggregators and they compress the data from their cluster members before sending the aggregated data to the sink. Existing clustering routing protocols assume that all the nodes are provided with equal amount of energy but this shortens the network lifetime and makes the network unstable. This paper proposes a solution prioritizing… Show more

“…Most part of energy is consumed by sensing, calculating and communication processes. Especially, nearly a half of the total power consumes during data transmission and receiving [11][12][13]. In order to maximize the WSN lifetime, many energy saving strategy was developed for the agriculture WSNs.…”

“…Because of flexibility in deployment and various functions, WSN has numerous potential applications. These typically include environmental monitoring, industrial monitoring, machine health monitoring, and tracking or controlling [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]. Under the guarantee that all of the traffic data in the whole network range can be measured, using sensor nodes can overcome the shortcomings mentioned above [1].…”
