A Novel Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonator for Filters and Sensors Applications

Abstract: Bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonators are widely applied in filters and gravimetric sensors for physical or biochemical sensing. In this work, a new architecture of BAW resonator is demonstrated, which introduces a pair of reflection layers onto the top of a thin film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) device. The new device can be transformed between type I and type II dispersions by varying the thicknesses of the reflection layers. A computational modeling is developed to fully investigate the acoustic waves and t… Show more

“…Deposition of the AlN layer was under strict process control with well-optimized parameters to ensure good crystallinity. The film exhibited excellent piezoelectric properties as demonstrated in our previous studies on Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) 28 and Contour Mode Resonators (CMRs). 29,30 After completion of the SMR, a monolayer graphene film was then transferred onto the surface to form a semiconducting channel between the two top electrodes.…”

“…Spectral controlling and shaping with nanostructures in the MIR region is a hot topic because of the advances in applications such as biochemical sensing, imaging, IR labelling, and so on [22,23,24]. The fast switching between amorphous and crystalline phases of GST makes it a candidate for active MIR photonic devices.…”

“…Microbeam-based structures are widely applied in MEMS, such as microactuator/sensor [ 1 , 2 , 3 ], energy harvester [ 4 ], microresonator [ 5 , 6 , 7 ], gyroscope [ 8 ], microgripper [ 9 , 10 ] and so on. Their light weight, small size, low-energy consumption and durability make them even more attractive.…”
