A novel compact tri-band antenna design for WiMAX, WLAN and Bluetooth applications

Abstract: A novel and compact tri-band planar antenna for 2.4/5.2/5.8-GHz wireless local area network (WLAN), 2.3/3.5/5.5-GHz Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and Bluetooth applications is proposed and studied in this paper. The antenna comprises of a L-shaped element which is coupled with a ground shorted parasitic resonator to generate three resonant modes for tri-band operation. The L-shaped element which is placed on top of the substrate is fed by a 50Ω microstrip feed line and is responsible … Show more

“…The dual band radio card has 4 external antennas providing antenna gains of 2.52 dBi in the 2.4 GHz band and 3.81 dBi in the 5 GHz band. Antennas with such gains are typically needed for WLAN operations [10][11][12][13][14]. The AP is IEEE 802.11ac compliant and supports up to 3 simultaneous spatial streams and up to 160 MHz bandwidth.…”

“…The benefit of a multiband antenna compared to a single band is the cost-effectiveness and size that is achieved with the help of MPA. Numerous procedures have been utilized to attain multiband antenna at microwave frequency, including but not limited to slots, Defected Ground Structure (DGS), feed lines, stacked patches, parasitic elements, meandering slots, and fractal structures [27,28]. However, these procedures lead to issues such as complex structure, large size, and low performance.…”

“…The research community has turned their focus toward the FSS considering their effective performance in applications, such as polarizers, beam splitters, antennas, RADAR cross section reduction, absorbers in military, and satellite communication [15][16][17][18][19][20]. The dealings among the unit cells help end into the frequency assortment distinctiveness.…”
