A novel peroxidase/oxidase mimetic Fe‐porphyrin covalent organic framework enhanced the luminol chemiluminescence reaction and its application in glucose sensing

Abstract: A Fe‐porphyrin covalent organic framework (Fe‐PorCOF) was prepared through a postmodification strategy and characterized using different techniques. Fe‐PorCOF exhibits an inherent peroxidase/oxidase mimetic catalytic activity and sharply accelerates chemiluminescence (CL) reactions between luminol and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or dissolved oxygen (O2) under alkaline conditions. The catalytic role was attributed to a significant increase in production of reactive oxygen species. Using the imminent peroxidase mim… Show more

“…The colossal specific surface area of COFs makes them easy to interact with the external environment, which has been exploited to develop sensing materials. 699 Based on pore engineering of COFs, 700 the pore walls can be precisely designed to selectively interact with target analytes, thus allowing the design of various types of chemical detection systems based on the principles of colorimetry, 701,702 chemiluminescence, 336,703 photoluminescence, [704][705][706] chemoelectrical transduction, 707 chromatography, 708,709 and others to achieve highly sensitive and selective detection.…”

“…As indicated by Li et al , in the carbonate buffer solution with pH = 11, the chemiluminescence caused by mixing luminol, H 2 O 2 and COF-366-Fe is 27 times stronger than that of the COF-free system. 703 In addition, the chemiluminescence intensity is linearly related to the H 2 O 2 concentration in the range of 0.01–10.0 μM with a detection limit of 5.3 nM. Through the reaction of glucose and glucose oxidase to generate H 2 O 2 in situ , COF-366-Fe can also be used in the chemiluminescence assay of glucose, with a linear range of 0.05–8.0 μM and a detection limit of 4 nM.…”

“…Luminol-based chemiluminescence (CL) system is well-known as one of the powerful methodologies for reactive oxygen species (ROS) because of its ability to produce strong CL emission. However, as a classical CL system, the H 2 O 2 –luminol system is usually subject to the self-decomposition of H 2 O 2 , which affects its application to a certain extent, while ROS are active in chemical reactions and could trigger luminol to produce intense CL emission. Therefore, it is urgent to find a stable and controlled reactant in CL reaction. Hence, researchers turned their attention to the efficient generation process of ROS, especially nanomaterials. For example, graphene oxide or carbon nitride treated by H 2 O 2 could form stable carbon radicals and ROS on the π bond of the lamellar structure and produce strong CL emission with luminol. , …”

“…The CL analysis method has signi cant advantages of high sensitivity for detecting trace concentrations, fast response, low background signals with high stability, non-toxicity, wide dynamic range, and easy operation. In the absence of an external light source, they are widely used in biological sample measurement, food safety, and clinical diagnos [10]- [12]. CL signals are dependent on the reaction speed, so e cient catalysts change the signal intensity and increase the sensitivity of this measurement method [13].…”
