A novel rectifying circuit for microwave power harvesting system

Abstract: Many researchers continue to look for novel means to harvest energy and generate power using existing sources thus eradicating the need of batteries and power supplies which only add up to the cost of the system. A rectifier is the main component in energy harvesting circuits as it converts RF energy from available sources to DC power. This article aimed at developing a novel rectifying circuit to be used in harvesting applications at a frequency of 900 MHz. Besides, it is also aimed to enhance the output volt… Show more

“…At the receiver side the antenna intercepts the EM waves and generates a small amount of voltage. In this system, the various types of antennas such as Dipole, Microstrip, Spiral, Coplananar, Spiral, Yagi‐Uda, patch, and parabolic can be used . However, selection of an antenna becomes critical issue as a small size antenna intercepts less EM signal whereas the larger become impractical.…”

“…The RF energy harvesting devices a kind of rectifier circuits . One of the most widely known RF rectifier circuits is the Dickson rectifier . The circuit, which can basically respond to low current and voltage, provides achieving high power conversion efficiency and high DC voltage over the output load .…”

“…The circuit, which can basically respond to low current and voltage, provides achieving high power conversion efficiency and high DC voltage over the output load . In addition to being practical and simple, Dickson rectifier circuits are widely preferred because they are suitable for being developed . Another advantage of the energy harvesting process with Dickson circuits is that it creates a staged‐structure by adding the same rectifier circuit one after the other.…”
