A Novel Robust Model Reference Adaptive Impedance Control Scheme for an Active Transtibial Prosthesis

Abstract: SummaryIn this paper, a novel robust model reference adaptive impedance control (RMRAIC) scheme is presented for an active transtibial ankle prosthesis. The controller makes the closed loop dynamics of the prosthesis similar to a reference impedance model and provides asymptotic tracking of the response trajectory of this impedance model. The interactions between human and prosthesis are taken into account by designing a second-order reference impedance model. The proposed controller is robust against parametr… Show more

“…When introducing support vector machines, most literatures usually solve the dual optimization problem by introducing a function to get the optimization problem in the dual space. The constraints in the dual problem are easier to deal with in form and the nonlinear mapping in the dual problem can be implicitly represented by a kernel function, so that the kernel function or kernel matrix can be directly used in the solution to participate in the operation [14][15]. In recent years, with the deepening of the research on the original space optimization problem, a large number of literatures point out that the support vector machine can directly solve the original space optimization problem.…”

“…Although great efforts have been made to measure active ankle joint stiffness [46], [52]- [54], less has been done for its active modulation within transtibial amputee prostheses. There are a few proposed stiffness control schemes for prosthesis design [55], [56], but only one recent study presents active single DoF ankle stiffness control [57] and this was done in simulation. In this paper, we aim to address the gap in active adjustment of ankle joint stiffness while still providing adequate position control, targeting both the frontal and sagittal plane in real time.…”
