A Novel Synthesis of Green Apatite‐Type Y5(SiO4)3N:Eu2+ Phosphor via SiC‐Assisted Sol–Gel Route

Abstract: A green Y5(SiO4)3N:Eu2+ phosphor has been successfully prepared by developing a new SiC reduction‐assisted sol–gel method. The valence state of Eu ions was identified with XPS analysis and the photoluminescence spectrum presents a Eu2+ typical broad green emission band. XRD analysis, photoluminescence and excitation measurement, and FTIR test were also carried out, to obtain crystal phase, light emitting, and chemical bonding results. The specific mechanism of SiC reductant in the synthetic process was studied… Show more

“…Hydroxyapatite [HA: Ca 10 (PO 4 ) 6 (OH) 2 ] is a bioceramic material, which is widely utilized to construct artificial bone grafts due to its compositional comparability with human bone and hard tissues 1–3 . The biological and chemical properties of apatite minerals, such as HA and calcium phosphates, can significantly be enhanced by doping with metal ions like Zn 2+ , Cu 2+ , Ag + , Fe 3+ , and Co 2+ 4–8 . These cationic dopants substitute the Ca 2+ sites in the HA structure.…”
