A planar reconfigurable polarization antenna

Abstract: A planar antenna with microsecond-reconfigurable polarization is described. The antenna consists of a sub-array of dual orthogonally fed elements, each rotated with respect to the other. The unique design improves circular polarization (CP) axial ratio and linear polarization (LP) performance. The antenna was fabricated and the measured results are presented, showing good LP (> 15dB) but poor CP (>0.3dB) rejection.
