“…The complexes bis(alkyl-2-mercaptonicotinato-N,S,N,'S')-dioxomolybdenum(VI), [alkyl = methyl (1), ethyl (2), n-propyl (3), i-propyl (4), n-butyl (5) and cyclohexyl (6)] were obtained in the reactions of MoO 2 Cl 2 or MoO 2 (acac) 2 with 2-mercaptonicotinic acid and tetramethylammonium chloride in corresponding alcohol while the by-products in all reactions were esters of 2-mercaptonicotinic acid, 1,1'-dithio-2,2'-alkylnicotinate and tetramethylammonium hexachloromolybdate(V) (8). The formation of such reaction products may be explained by catalytic action of molybdenum(V) according to the proposed mechanism given in Scheme 1.…”

“…† It displays two bands in the 250-400 nm region with ε of the order of 2-3 × 10 4 M −1 cm −1 in EtOH (Table S4 †), similarly to what was observed for 2-mercaptonicotinic acid. 19 The absorption spectrum of H 2 dtdn is confined below 300 nm ( Fig. S18 †), i.e.…”

“…Although 2-mercaptonicotinic acid is a ligand with interesting possibilities of coordination, either (N,S) or (O,S), a survey of the reported molecular structure determinations for metal complexes revealed that the S,N-bidentate chelating and N,S-bidentate triconnective bridging modes are the most usual coordination patterns for the 2-mercaptonicotinic acid, (Scheme 1, structures II and IV) [1][2][3][4]. The gold(I) complex with the 2-mercaptonicotinic acid describes a S-monodentate coordination mode, (Scheme 1, structure I, [4]).…”
