A Practical Data Recovery Technique for Long-Term Strain Monitoring of Mega Columns during Construction

Abstract: A practical data recovery method is proposed for the strain data lost during the safety monitoring of mega columns. The analytical relations among the measured strains are derived to recover the data lost due to unexpected errors in long-term measurement during construction. The proposed technique is applied to recovery of axial strain data of a mega column in an irregular building structure during construction. The axial strain monitoring using the wireless strain sensing system was carried out for one year a… Show more

“…This experiment solves the shortcoming of unstable strain gauges for a long time, and this During this study, two vibrating wire strain gauges with the same working principle were measured using the parallel method at similar positions. The feasibility of a parallel measurement scheme was verified [18]. Under the condition of different prestresses, this experiment studied the influencing relationship of temperature corresponding variable [19,20].…”

“…The master node shown in Figure 3b [40,41] receives processed data from the sensor nodes through short-range wireless communication (ISM band) and transmits these data to the monitoring server through long-range (Code Division Multiple Access—CDMA, [42]) communication. Four sensor nodes can be connected to each master node with a four-port interface, which can simultaneously receive data from 16 VWSGs via sensor nodes.…”

“…Vibrating wire sensors have applications in the technical state control of bridges [7,8], ground anchor systems [9], tunnels, large scale buildings [10,11,12], and transport infrastructure [13]. The technique of vibrating wire measurements has become an important branch of the metrology applied in measurements of elements’ displacements relative to each other, deformations, stresses [14], changes of fugue cleavages, changes in the tilt of building objects, the subsidence of pillars, the ground pressure on structure elements, etc.…”
