A probabilistic method to optimize energy consumption in Mobile Ad-Hoc networks

Abstract: In Mobile Ad-hoc networks, the rout discovery is accomplished by sending control packets from source node to destination node through intermediate nodes. The replicated copies of the control packets are received at each node of network system. It results in more node energy consumption. In this paper a Threshold probabilistic Route Discovery (THPRD) method has been discussed which helps in reducing the node energy by reducing replicated copies of control packets. The proposed method uses threshold probability … Show more

“…The problem of energy consumption represents the center of interest for the research community of mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) and wireless sensor networks (WSN) like works in [38], [39], [40], [41], [42] and [43], this led us to study the impact of the web services discovery protocols on the energy consumed in MANET. After our study of some existing works we have noticed that each one of those approaches violates one or more technical constraints that should be respected in ad hoc networks such as bandwidth and storage resources, etc.…”

“…Simulation tests are conducted in [59] to evaluate the energy savings in MANET when using different values of the forwarding probability. Nodes use AODV as their routing protocol and move according to the Random Way Point model.…”
