A program for 3D simulation of signals for ultrasonic testing of specimens

Abstract: Optimization of the parameters of schemes using multichannel ultrasonic flaw detectors for sonic testing of rails (sonic test schemes), as well as development of algorithms for processing test signals, are considered. The efficiency of the RAIL-3D computer code proposed for the 3D simulation of the propagation and formation of echo signals during ultrasonic testing is tested by comparing real signals and simulation results for a CB-2 calibration block. The comparison is performed for the complex conditions und… Show more

“…The possibility of using the results of mathematical modeling of the propagation of ultrasonic waves for creating an automated system for decoding defectograms is mentioned in the work [21], where the software is based on a deterministic mathematical model developed on the basis of existing theoretical knowledge in the field of ultrasonic location. In the work [21], it is proposed to use simulation results to assess the technical potential efficiency of sounding schemes, to assess the detection of defects of various sizes, to calculate echo signals and trajectories of ultrasonic waves, to develop new methods and means of monitoring, to compare analysis and to optimize sounding schemes.…”

“…2. In general, the probe emits a sound beam in the horizontal plane along the axial direction of the artificial hole, but when studying the effect of defect orientation on the gain compensation, the probe emits a sound beam in the vertical plane along the axial direction of the artificial hole [14] . The phased array transducer generated an ultrasonic signal with a frequency of 5 MHz and a sound velocity of 5,800 m•s -1 under the excitation of high frequency electric signal which was transmitted to the phased array polycrystalline probe through the control system, and passed through the coupling medium to enter the interior of the sample to realize the ultrasonic wave sound field control.…”
