“…A moderate amount of training in MI is practical and replicable for clinicians from a range of professional backgrounds, even those without previous counseling experience. Applying MI in clinical settings is relatively resource-intensive 29 because it ideally involves initial training by an accredited member of MINT, followed by feedback and coaching until proficiency is achieved. 9 However, we found in this trial, which was completed over almost 3 years, that a moderate amount of training sustained clinician proficiency in MI, without the need for formal feedback using the MITI scale or refresher training other than twice-yearly group reflection and sharing sessions.…”
