Abstract: The effectiveness of any therapy in acute acoustic trauma or sudden hearing loss of unknown origin has not been demonstrated convincingly. The assessment is difficult because of a relatively high rate of spontaneous recovery. Nevertheless, many different forms of treatment are recommended.
