A relative hairiness index for evaluating the securities of fiber ends in staple yarns and its application

Abstract: Hairiness is a prominent property of staple yarns, but the existing evaluation parameters mainly describe the fiber ends already protruding out of yarn bodies. The potential fiber ends in yarns also play a crucial role in the performance of yarns in the subsequent processes and the resultant fabric quality. In our previous studies, maximum hairiness and its theoretical model have been proposed, which indicate the maximum fiber ends of a staple yarn having the potential to protrude out of yarn bodies and become… Show more

“…Ring spinning is the oldest and most widely used spinning technology. 1,2 Yet, it still dominates the market due to its flexibility in terms of raw material and yarn count. 3,4 In recent years, many alternative spinning technologies have been developed to meet the demand for yarns with better properties or to improve production efficiencies, such as compact spinning, 5,6 Nu-Torque, 7,8 Siro spinning, 9 Solo spinning, 10 embeddable and locatable spinning, 11 jet-ring spinning, 12 ring spinning with a diagonal path, 13 contact surface spinning, 14,15 agent-aided spinning, 16 and so on.…”
