A Review of Galvanically Isolated Impedance-Source DC–DC Converters

Abstract: Impedance-source converters, an emerging technology in electric energy conversion, overcome limitations of conventional solutions by use of specific impedance-source networks. Focus in this paper is on the topologies of galvanically isolated impedance-source DC-DC converters. These converters are particularly appropriate for distributed generation systems with renewable or alternative energy sources which require input voltage and load regulation in a wide range. We review here the basic topologies for researc… Show more

“…In the second operating mode, the value of current through D 2 follows from (37). When sum of the current through inductors is decreased and its value reaches to load current; current through capacitor C 1 reaches to −i L and diode D 2 is turned off; so the third operating is achieved.…”

“…Then, a section about design considerations is provided. 37 The proposed inverters with selecting appropriate switching patterns can generate output voltage with low frequency (50 − 60 Hz)too. To show proper operation of proposed topologies and to verify validity of derived equations, simulation results using PSCAD/EMTDC software and experimental results are provided.…”

“…The single line diagram of a DCSOP is shown in Figure 3. In this study, the galvanically isolated bidirectional DC/DC converter based on VSCs and a high-frequency transformer [18] is used for the DCSOP. The DCSOP can achieve electrical isolation between DC feeders, and function as a DC breaker to isolate short fault occurs in the MVDC grid.…”

“…Thus, the SOCs of ESS should be bounded by Equation (17). As shown in (18), the SOC at each time-step depends on the charging or discharging power at the previous time-step, as well as on the historical SOCs. Besides, the SOCs at the beginning of the day and the end of the day are expected to be the same.…”

“…The boost DC‐DC converters are divided into a large number of classifications. In the isolated DC‐DC converters, the high‐voltage gain is obtained by increasing the turns ratio of the high‐frequency transformer . However, high‐circulating current, the high voltage stress across the output diode, and low efficiency are the significant drawbacks in this method .…”
