A review on applications of rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle charging stations

Abstract: Today’s technology allows people to remotely control and monitor many systems. In these technological systems, robots or unmanned vehicles are generally used, which are controlled remotely without human interaction. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which does not have a pilot on it, is one of the unmanned vehicles capable of flying either remotely or automatically. UAVs are among the systems that are used in many fields for military, civil, and academic purposes and are constantly developing in parallel with the… Show more

“…When considering the power density of those two types of batteries, Li-Ion batteries will provide a much higher power density than the Li-Po batteries. However, when considering the size of the battery, much larger, so Li-Po batteries are used for most kinds of UAVs [21,22].…”

“…In [6], a thorough overview of battery charging stations is given and divided into two groups: wired and wireless charging stations. Although the power transfer efficiency of wireless charging stations is lower, the reliability of such systems in terms of energy transfer and environmental changes is much higher than that of wired charging stations [6].…”

“…In recent years, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been used in various fields, such as research, industry and recreation (Vergouw et al 2016;Hassanalian & Abdelkefi 2017;Ahirwar et al 2019;Darvishpoor et al 2020;Shahmoradi et al 2020). UAV platforms are classified primarily into rotary-wing, fixed-wing and flapping-wing UAVs, depending on their propulsion systems (Ucgun, Yuzgec & Bayilmis 2021). Rotary-wing UAVs, which are based primarily on a multi-rotor propulsion system, can hover, take off and land vertically in a narrow space compared to other UAV platforms.…”
