A review on braking control and optimization techniques for electric vehicle

Abstract: In this modern world, due to limited fossil fuels, increasing cost, and environmental concerns a clean and sustainable transportation system in the form of electric vehicles (EV) is now becoming popular. On the other hand, electric vehicles have an advantage such as zero-emission, less maintenance, comfortable ride, less noise, etc. An electric vehicle is driven by an electric motor so considering driving patterns and road traffic conditions the vehicle often requires braking operation. The most common method … Show more

“…The reported CCSs can be categorized into two groups based on their objectives: optimization-oriented control CCSs [6,7] and real-time capability-oriented CCSs [8,9]. Optimization-oriented control CCSs rely on offline methods to generate reference quantities and trajectories for achieving optimized control performance, such as dynamic programming (DP) [10,11] and particle swarm optimization (PSO) [12,13].…”

“…Many research and review articles have focused on individual topics of control strategies used in RBS, and its design considerations, etc. But very few literature papers have provided a complete overview and critical analysis of the RBS as a whole 40‐43 . The different literature gaps as shown in Figure 3, keeping that in mind, and to bridge the gap, this paper attempts to provide a critical review of all the aspects involved in an efficient RBS.…”
