A review on essential oil analyses and biological activities of the traditionally used medicinal plant Thymus vulgaris L

Abstract: Since the old times, seeds producing plants have played a vital role in the progress of human culture to treat diseases. Medicinal plants are used traditionally by the local communities to treat diseases. Recently, a report has shown that more than 250,000 flowering plant species are available globally. “…Most of the researchers estimated the total phenol content of S. rebaudiana extracts with the modified FCR (Folin-Ciocalteu reagent) method (Amri & Hossain, 2018;Maisa et al, 2021;Hossain et al, 2022). The samples were analysed against the gallic acid standard and measured the absorbance by the UV-visible spectrophotometer method at the wavelength of 760 nm.…”

“…Natural resources are a crucial source of alternative safe medicines. They play a primary role in health sectors due to their healing and medicinal values [2][3][4][5][6] . Plants and their derived products are used as medicines in primary health care in most developing countries due to their better acceptability, compatibility, adaptability to the human body, and negligible adverse effects [7][8][9] .…”
