A Review on Trombe Wall Technology Feasibility and Applications

Abstract: The current global energy challenges require strategies to increase energy-independence across regions and individual countries in order to facilitate and foster the utilization of passive energy sources. As such, solar energy utilization for covering and offsetting building heating loads is a sustainable way to reduce energy consumption (electricity, gas etc.) for space heating. Trombe wall technology is a passive building solar heating system that can be modified and applied to mild and cold regions. This wo… Show more

“…1) The intended use of the building, including the modes of use, technological processes within the premises, projected number of occupants, workplaces, and lighting. 2) Detailed insights on the thermal attributes of external boundaries and the thermal inertia of the premises' internal structures (Saleh Pascha et al, 2016;Millers et al, 2020;Borodinecs et al, 2022a;Borodinecs et al, 2022b;Metals et al, 2022;Prozuments et al, 2023;Staveckis and Zemitis, 2023).…”

“…Therefore, it is essential to assess how a Trombe wall functions in particular climatic conditions and how it may perform best. A comprehensive examination of existing research encompassing review papers, 5,6,[24][25][26][27] has revealed a significant lack of full-scale field investigations of Trombe walls designed to match the Iraqi climate. In light of this research gap, this paper presents a numerical and experimental study of Trombe wall performance and impact of its parameters on energy savings and temperature variation within a full-scale test room located in Iraq.…”
