ABSTRAKPendahuluan: Penderita HIV / AIDS harus mengonsumsi ARV setiap hari dan rutin kontrol setiap bulannya untuk mengambil ARV di rumah sakit yang membuat penderita beresiko memiliki perilaku lost to follow up. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor -faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku lost follow-up pada pasien HIV/AIDS dengan terapi ARV di RSUD Dr Soetomo Surabaya.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif korelasi dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi sebanyak 135 pasien dan didapatkan 100 pasien dengan consequtive sampling. Variabel independen adalah perceived susceptability, perceived severity, perceived barrier to action, perceived benefit of action, cues to action, dan selfefficacy. Variabel dependen adalah perilaku lost to follow up. Data diperoleh dengan kuesioner dan dianalisis dengan Spearman's Rho.Hasil: Terdapat hubungan antara perceived susceptability (p=0,002), perceived severity (p=0,025), perceived barrier to action (p=0,022), cues to action (p=0,011) dengan perilaku lost to follow up. Tidak terdapat hubungan antara perceived benefit of action (p=0,196) dan self-efficacy (p=0,071) dengan perilaku lost to follow up.Kesimpulan: Pengetahuan tentang pentingnya manfaat dari ARV perlu ditingkat kepada pasien dengan ARV serta kesadaran diri pasien untuk rutin kontrol dan mengonsumsi obat ARV. Peneliti selanjutnya disarankan untuk melakukan penelitian secara mendalam (penelitian kualitatif) terkait penyebab pasien memilih untuk melakukan lost to follow up, serta dapat menemukan kebaharuan atau aplikasi sebagai pengingat dan monitoring jadwal pasien untuk melakukan kontrol ke rumah sakit. Youth-driven approaches to HIV prevention can engage youth and improve health outcomes. Photovoice has been used to engage youth in identifying the assets and challenges in their communities. In sub-Saharan Africa, youth remain vulnerable to HIV infection. This article describes a photovoice project, named Youth Photovoice, conducted in rural Malawi, which focused on community places and situations relating to risky sexual behaviors that place youth at risk of HIV infection. Twenty-four youth, ages 13–17 (12 males and 12 females), participated in Youth Photovoice. During the photovoice process, youth identified five community situations and places that put them at risk of unsafe sex and thus HIV infection: initiation ceremonies, isolated places, community celebrations, local businesses such as bars and rest houses, and church-sponsored activities. Youth used a systematic action planning process to develop action plans. They presented their action plans to local leaders and parents. Parents and leaders responded positively and agreed to help the youth carry out their plans. If their plans to address community situations that put them at risk of unsafe sex succeed, there will be a direct impact on reducing the risk of HIV infection among youth. Youth Photovoice provided the opportunity for youth to obtain new skills, build new partnerships, and present their ideas to community leaders. Integrating this action planning process into photovoice helped to guide the youth toward actualizing their HIV prevention plans in their community. This process can increase the effectiveness of photovoice initiatives to address other community issues in a wide variety of settings.

Despite youth constituting a large portion of the population in Uganda, their involvement in improving maternal health in their communities has been minimal. This paper explores the potential role of youth in contributing to maternal health in rural communities in Wakiso district, Uganda using photovoice. Photovoice was used as a community-based participatory research method among 10 youth (5 males and 5 females) over a period of 5 months. The photos taken by the youth were discussed in monthly meetings, and emerging data was analysed using thematic content analysis. Four themes emerged regarding how youth can contribute to improving maternal health in their communities. These themes were: community health education; advocacy for health improvement; community voluntary work; and being exemplary. The fifth and final theme provides the avenues, including drama and sports, that the youth suggested they could use for conveying messages to the community concerning maternal and general health. Health education on topics such as the importance of delivering at health facilities was emphasised. Regarding advocacy, the youth said they can be involved in reaching out to various stakeholders to raise concerns affecting maternal health. Voluntary work such as construction of energy stoves for pregnant women emerged. The youth also highlighted that they could be exemplary for instance by males accompanying their spouses during antenatal visits. With the need to continuously engage community actors in health initiatives, youth should be considered and supported as important stakeholders so they may engage in activities to improve health within their communities.
