A simple methodology for capacity sizing of cogeneration and trigeneration plants in hospitals: A case study for a university hospital

Abstract: Energy efficiency applications have great importance for facilities that utilize large amount of electrical and heat energy. Cogeneration (so called Combined Heat and Power; abbreviated as CHP) plants with gas engines are capable of generating both electrical and heat energy simultaneously using a single fuel input. In recent years, the realization of license exemption for facilities willing to produce electricity just for their energy demands by ensuring the condition of 80% total efficiency, low carbon emiss… Show more

“…20 The energy saving potential at a university hospital was estimated at 19.66% when natural gas was used on the basis of cogeneration and at 19.52% when it was used on the basis of trigeneration plant. 21 A Smart Energy Management Systems architecture has been proposed to solve the multi-objective operation management and scheduling problem in a typical micro-grid while considering different energy resource technologies. 22 Also, different impacts of cooling, heating and power changes have been compared in a power (CCHP) micro-grid equipped with the thermal storage tank.…”
