A Smart and Distributed Measurement System to Acquire and Analyze Mechanical Motion Parameters

Abstract: This paper presents a low-cost and smart measurement system to acquire and analyze mechanical motion parameters. The measurement system integrates several measuring nodes that include one or more triaxial accelerometers, a temperature sensor, a data acquisition unit and a wireless communication unit. Particular attention was dedicated to measurement system accuracy and compensation of measurement errors caused by power supply voltage variations, by temperature variations and by accelerometers' misalignments. “…These hardware modules were designed and successfully tested by the ors in previous applications [20] and could be integrated in the future in single Arduino or Raspberry depicts the positioning of the sensing units in the developed prototype. As it is clearly visible there are no restrictions that interfere with the user movements and the additional weight caused by integration of the measurement gf, being almost half of the total weight associated with the battery pack module.…”

“…(1) As the first component to recognize and convert vibration signals, the vibration picking accuracy of the vibration sensor will directly affect the working accuracy of the whole vibration-measuring system. (2) With the development of intelligent manufacturing equipment and wireless sensor networks, higher requirements are expected for the volume and cost of vibration sensors. However, domestic high-performance sensors are heavily dependent on imports, and it is difficult to meet the demand for the development of intelligent manufacturing equipment.…”
