White blood cell counting analysis of blood smear images using various segmentation strategies AIP Conference Proceedings 1883, 020018 (2017) Abstract:Ergonomics has gained attention and take into consideration by the workers in the different fields of works recently. It has given a huge impact on the workers comfort which directly affects the work efficiency and productivity. The workers have claimed to suffer from the painful postures and injuries in their workplace. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is the most common problem frequently reported by the workers. This problem occurs due to the lack of knowledge and alertness from the workers to the ergonomic in their surroundings. This paper intends to review the approaches and instruments used by the previous works of the researchers in the evaluation of the ergonomics. The two main assessment methods often used for ergonomic evaluation are Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA). Popular devices are Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) and Microsoft Kinect.

Abstract-In a near future, human and industrial manipulator will work together sharing a common workspace and production activities leading to a potential increase of accident. The research project concerns the adaptation of industrial robot already installed in a flexible manufacturing system in order to make it more interactive with human. The aim concerns the reduction of potential risk of injuries while working with an industrial robot. This paper presents a new inexpensive, non-intrusive, non-invasive, and non-vision-based system, for human detection and collision avoidance. One method investigated for improving safety concerns planning of safe path. This system recognizes human activities and locates operator's position in real time through an instrumented safety helmet. This safety helmet includes an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) and an indoor localization system such as RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) using industrial wireless equipment. A hybrid workspace including a flexible manufacturing system has been designed in order to practice experiments in an industrial-like environment.

Safety is a leading theme in industrial applications such as constructions sites and production chains. Several solutions are already in use to protect workers from structural failures or traumatic events. These work instruments have proven their effectiveness, lowering the potentially hurtful, if not fatal, consequences of accidents on workplaces. In this context, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) paradigm can boost the development of smart wearable systems that do not impede movements and/or operations. This work proposes Smart helmet for Advanced Factory Environment (SAFE), an autonomous and integrated wearable IIoT device. With the help of integrated sensors, SAFE is able to perform continuous monitoring activities of the worker and to promptly send alerts in case of alarms and/or accidents.
