A study on the relationship between irregularity and hairiness of spun yarns

Abstract: In this study, Photoshop software was used to do image analysis on the photos of spun yarns. The result showed that yarn could be divided into two parts: the surface hairs and the stem. Based on this finding, a mathematical model of yarn unevenness was built to analyze the relationship between yarn unevenness and surface hairiness. The relationships among the coefficients of mass variance of the yarn, the stem and the surface hairs, expressed as CV t , CV s and CV h , respectively, were investigated in detail.… Show more

“…The testing speed was 30 m/min, the segment length was 10 m, and 10 segment lengths were tested. 2123 The YS6010 spectrophotometer produced by Shenzhen Threenh Technology Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen, China) was selected to test the color value of knitted fabric of mixed color yarns. During sample testing, D65 light source, 10° field of view, 25.4 mm aperture and SCI mode were used, and the average value was taken for five tests of each sample.…”

“…The YG133B/ Pro-H evenness tester was applied to measure the yarn evenness with a testing speed of 400 m/min and a yarn length of 400 m, following the standard ISO 16549:2004. 15 The surface hairiness was performed on the Y172A yarn hairiness tester at a speed of 30 m/min with a fragment length of 10 m, and each proportion of yarn was tested 10 times, following the Chinese textile industry standard (CN) FZ/T 01086-2000. [16][17][18] The tensile properties were tested by adopting a XL-2 single-yarn tensile tester, and each yarn was tested 20 times at a speed of 500 mm/min, a gauge length of 500 mm and a pre-tension of 9.0 cN.…”
