A Tri-Band Electromagnetic Absorber With Insensitive Properties

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, we present a tri-band electromagnetic absorber with insensitive properties. A rotational symmetry structure with a metallic ground is proposed for the design of the metamaterial absorber. Calculation results show that the absorber has three perfect absorption points at 4.76 GHz, 7.61 GHz and 10.84 GHz with the corresponding absorption rates of 96.7%, 97.8%, and 99.3%. An experiment is given, and the results verify our design. Such a tri-band absorber has the merits of high absorption ra… Show more

“…Metamaterial absorber (MA) was proposed for the first time in 2008 with a subwavelength design of an electric ring resonator and a split wire [1], which has garnered much attention due to its ability to control electromagnetic waves [2,3]. Since then, much work has been carried out on MA with different unit cell [3][4][5][6][7][8][9], such as trapezoidal array [3], cross ring resonator [4], rotational symmetry resonator [5], crossed-shaped resonator [6] and strip resonator [7] to generate single band, two band, three band, multi-band, or broadband perfect absorption [6][7][8][9]. However, the absorption of the above-mentioned metal-insulator-metal structure is unable to tune once the design is set, which limits its practical applications.…”
