A wearable fabric-based RFID skin temperature monitoring patch

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents a novel design of wearable radio frequency identification (RFID) sensor patch make of conductive fabric and integrated on clothes. The wearable RFID with similar design is also implemented on a Polyimide (PI) substrate to show the effectiveness of the system. We also demonstrate the wearable and washable RFID patch by using conductive fabric coil antenna as well as non-conductive fabric substrate. The conductive fabric offers great flexibility and comfortability as it can be sewed … Show more

“…In addition, the accuracy of infrared approaches is limited from a distance. Some studies [76] [78] explore RF identification (RFID) technologies for accurate body temperature monitoring. They integrate temperature sensors into RFID tags and attach tags onto human skin to enable the body temperature monitoring with an error of 0.25°C.…”

“…To a large extent, the performance of NFC communication depends on the performance of tags, where tag antenna is one of the dominating factors that determine the performance of them [6]. The input impedance of the antenna is measured by network analyser to describe the input characteristic of the antenna for the most part [7].…”

Wen examined the RFID-based skin temperature monitoring patch by developing RFID based conductive fabrics for temperature sensing and demonstrated their use by measuring variations in skin temperature [10].…”
