A wide-band high-gain antenna fed by probe tangent to the patch

Abstract: A probe tangent to the patch fed stacked microstrip antenna for wide band high gain applications is presented. By employing only two patches with proper fixed ratio and applying the probe tangent to the patch for feeding another patch, a novel feeding antenna is designed with both high-gain (12 dBi) and wide-band [35%, standing wave radio (SWR ≤ 2)] characteristics .In addition, the 2-dB-gain bandwidth is around 25%, which covers the impedance bandwidth.
