“…These pathways are involved in diverse cellular processes such as maintenance of osmotic homeostasis, nutrient uptake, resistance to xenotoxins, antigen processing, cell division, bacterial immunity, pathogenesis, sporulation, and cholesterol and lipid trafficking. It is also reported that ABC transporters are involved in multidrug resistance in parasites (Jones and George ) and can be prospective targets for study as molecular markers of resistance to antihelminthics through suppression of the transporters themselves with specific inhibitors (Mordvinov, Ershov, Pirozhkova, Pakharukov, & Pakharukova, ). The presented results show that these pathways are important physiological processes, revealing that the function of the microbiome can play an important role in the nutrition and health of their host.…”

“…For collecting OF metacercariae, a naturally infected freshwater fish ( Leuciscus idus ) was net-caught in the Ob River near Novosibirsk (Western Siberia, Russia) by research assistant Viktor Antonov (ICG SB RAS) and was processed without the use of chemicals. OF metacercariae were extracted as described previously ( Mordvinov et al, 2017 ; Pakharukova et al, 2019a ). After several washes with normal saline, metacercariae were identified under a light microscope.…”
