Abdominal Ultrasound Findings of Tumor-Forming Hepatic Malignant Lymphoma

Abstract: Aim/Background: Evaluations of abdominal ultrasonography (US) findings of primary and secondary tumor-forming hepatic malignant lymphoma (HML) have not been adequately reported. In this study, we elucidated US and contrast-enhanced US (CEUS) findings in patients with HML. Materials/Methods: From January 2006 to March 2017, 25 patients with HML were enrolled (primary 7, secondary 18), each of whom was diagnosed pathologically. They were divided into 2 groups based on tumor diameter (cutoff, 30 mm). US imaging f… Show more

“…The tumors also showed penetrating vessels in the arterial phase. It was discovered earlier that multiple vascular channels could often be seen coursing through hepatic malignant lymphoma, including MALT lymphoma, which were referred to as the "vessel penetration sign" [34,35]. Comparisons of the image results of the present case with previously reported extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of MALT findings and typical hepatocellular carcinoma are summarized in Table 3.…”

“…However, the pathogenesis of the diseases has not been elucidated. PHC and TC are often in advanced stages when there are clear symptoms and the patients seek medical assistance due to no symptoms in the early stages, which increases the difficulty of clinical intervention ( 11 , 12 ). Therefore, early diagnosis of PHC and TC, as well as timely effective treatments, is of great significance to patients' survival and prognosis.…”

“…The diffuse pattern is usually seen in secondary involvement of the organ or in post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease. CEUS typically reveals APHE and early and punched washout [ 202 , 203 , 204 ]. Similar CECT and CEMRI features have been described as well [ 205 , 206 , 207 , 208 , 209 , 210 , 211 ].…”
