Absolute Helical Arrangement of Stacked Benzene Rings: Heterogeneous Double‐Helical Interaction Comprising a Hydrogen‐Bonding Belt and an Offset Parallel Aromatic–Aromatic‐Interaction Array
Abstract:Trennung ist die Konsequenz: Selbstorganisierte chirale Überstrukturen, resultierend aus zwei unterschiedlichen helicalen Wechselwirkungen, wurden in der Kristallstruktur der achiralen Verbindung 1 gefunden. Durch die Wechselwirkungen entstehen Ar‐H⋅⋅⋅π‐ und OH⋅⋅⋅OC‐Anordnungen. Das Racemat der Helices spaltet sich spontan in individuelle Einkristalle. Nur eine der Hydroxygruppen (grün) ist an der Bildung der helicalen wasserstoffverbrückten Anordnungen beteiligt.

Aus dem Nichts: Chirale Kristalle mit Schichtstruktur entstehen aus achiralem (4‐Methylbenzyl)ammoniummyristat und ‐pentadecanoat. In diesen Systemen entsteht die Chiralität auf molekularer Ebene durch das Festlegen einer Konformation. Durch parallele Anordnung überträgt sie sich dann auf supramolekularer Ebene auf 2D‐Schichten und schließlich auf den 3D‐Kristall (siehe Bild).
