Abstract:Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3) is constitutively activated in many diverse human tumors and contributes to malignant progression in part by preventing apoptosis. Janus kinases (JAKs), which are receptor-associated tyrosine kinases, phosphorylate STAT3 in normal as well as tumor cells in response to stimulation with cytokines or growth factors. Thus, the JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway has emerged as a promising new target for development of anti-cancer therapeutics. Previous studies dem… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
