Acceleration of positrons by a relativistic electron beam

Abstract: By making use of the dispersion relation and obtaining the growth rate and threshold for the instability development of a fully magnetized electron–positron beam plasma the acceleration of positrons by a relativistic electron beam is investigated. Furthermore, by comparing the Cherenkov and cyclotron acceleration mechanisms the dependence of the positrons acceleration on the plasma parameters and the magnetic field strength is studied.
