Accuracy of an Automatic Infusion Controller (AutoClamp) for Intravenous Fluid Administration

Abstract: Background: This study was purposed to compare in vitro the volumetric accuracy of a newly introduced automatic infusion controller, AutoClamp with that of other commonly used infusion devices. Methods: Four different volumetric infusion devices were used to examine the accuracy: Terufusion TE-112; Volumed μVP7000; AutoClamp; and Infucon. Accuracy was determined for each flow rate (20, 40, 100, and 200 ml/h) by using infusate volumes collected after 3 h of initiating the fluid administration. Accuracy was calc… Show more

“…Berbagai perangkat infus telah diperkenalkan untuk pemberian cairan intravena. Meskipun pengendali dropcounting yang diberi makan gravitasi telah digunakan secara luas untuk infus cairan, keakuratannya tidak optimal [4]. Pompa infus memberikan cairan, obat atau nutrisi ke dalam sistem sirkulasi pasien.…”

“…[28,34] Actual flow rates, measured gravimetrically were less due to catheter configuration flow resistance. [35] Aorta and internal carotid artery (ICA) flow were maintained at 3,500 ± 200 ml/min and 240 ± 30 ml/min, respectively. Two catheter configurations were used, single catheter and two coaxial catheters and two IV bag configurations were chosen, insulated and noninsulated.…”
